Gambling for Jesus

I decided to double down.

Instead of being on the field for the originally planned 6 months… Lord willing, I will now be staying abroad for 11 months with the World Race before returning to the U.S.

You might be asking “Why the change of plans?”

Well, when I first sat down at the table, I didn’t feel like I could commit to playing a hand. I felt broke(n) and overwhelmed. I was scared to make a starting bet, not to mention the idea of upping the stakes and committing to whatever the next card might bring. But through the first month of the race the Lord brought me to a place where I could say “Deal me in.” AND “I double down.”

Truth is, I should have been able to completely commit from the get go; but the Lord in his grace allowed me to see my cards before deciding how much I wanted to put on the hand, and I LIKE MY CARDS.

I like seeing God move in my life and in our squad (large group). I like participating in life-giving experiences and divinely-planned opportunities. I like how He fills me with good things when my heart is hungry (Ps 107:9, Luke 1:53).

I’ve been dealt a great hand, and I’ve doubled down… because I believe it’s going to get better from here.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Eph. 3:20-21)

    I know first hand how big this is for you and I believe the Lord walked you in such a way to show you how much you can put your trust in Him, because He alone knows the hand you truly hold and when it’s His hand you hold, it doesn’t matter how the cards stacked against you are .

    I love your courage and I am joyed to see you trusting the Lord enough to double down. It’s also amazing that you get to complete the race from start to finish this time.

    I am proud of you my friend for being so brave .
