My team and I are on our way to Peru! We should land in Lima sometime tonight.

During our first month in the field, we will be working with Inca Link in Trujillo (http://www.incalink.org/peru-country/). Their vision is to “reach the 300+ million youth in Latin America with Christ’s irresistible love,” and they seek to “do this through evangelism and discipleship, training leaders, connecting people, and compassion ministries.”

It’s likely that my team and I will partner with them in one or more of the following ways:

GARBAGE DUMP MINISTRY Demonstrating the love of Jesus to families who live in a garbage dump (Elim). This could include distributing clothes, food, and other goods to residents.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY Connecting with children at the Day Care Center (Mana), and working with Inca Link’s sponsored children as they learn what God’s love means for them and how it affects the way they live. The goal is to love them, teach them about Jesus and help them grow in maturity.

MINISTRY COMPOUND Serving the kids and families in the neighborhoods surrounding Inca Link’s Children’s Ministry Center through helping with construction or engaging directly with children in the neighborhood. This may include running VBS (Vacation Bible School) programming.

SPORTS CAMP MINISTRY Using sports to spread the word of God and to build communities among the young boys. Specific activities include sandboarding, floor ball, soccer, skateboarding, and volleyball.

MINISTRY WITH THE LOCAL CHURCHES Connecting with local churches and working with them to meet the needs of the people. This could look like helping with evangelism campaigns, 1 day VBS programs, or leading worship.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY Building relationships with mothers as they come to hear the gospel message and learn crocheting, sewing, and cooking.

Please pray for my team and those we will meet!

Specific wording of ministry descriptions was largely taken from http://www.incalink.org/peru-country/.
